New Nitrate Removal System

What’s New at the Devore Water Company?

We are excited to share the latest news regarding the long-awaited solution to our “Nitrate Problem.” As you may or may not already know, we are preparing to enter into agreement with a company called ToxSorb to build and install a new Nitrate Removal System that will remove the Nitrate (NO3) in our ground water, bringing us back into full compliance with all regulatory agencies. The ToxSorb system uses a special resin coated media to selectively remove nitrate ions from water using a process known as Ion Exchange (IX). Well water is pumped through a vessel containing the media, the nitrate ions are removed and exchanged with chloride ions.

The 3-D rendering depicts the new IX system as it will appear when installed near Wells #2A and #3, just East of the Kimbark Elementary School. The bulk of the components are assembled offsite in a 40 foot Container that serves not only for shipment and positioning onsite, but also as its permanent housing for protection from the elements.

The only chemical used during operation is a Sodium-Chloride (NaCl) brine solution. The media will have to be replaced every 3 to 5 years.  The actual frequency of media replacement will depend on the actual nitrate levels in the water and how many days per year the system has to operate.
